Reading, Writing and Being Generally Awesome

I have no idea what I'm doing.
Amelia Anne is Dead and Gone - Kat Rosenfield I almost didn't finish this. Nothing about it struck home for me. Not the characters, not the plot, not the setting. Why everyone raves about it is something I'll never understand. Even the point-of-view switches annoyed the hell out of me. I'm a bit disgruntled. Can I just say, boy does this woman like her metaphors!"His teeth were slick pearls behind the filter."I'm pretty sure that metaphor is in there at least one other time. It was a bit much for my taste and I've never thought of teeth being like pearls. ...Now I'm picturing a necklace made of teeth. The plot really bored me. The summary on the book jacket didn't really fit in with what I read and I've felt more suspense while opening a cereal box to find the surprise toy inside. And by the end, I kept thinking about what book I was going to read next rather than be immersed in emotion from the novel. This is more proof that hyped up novels and I do not get along well.
